課程概述

This course will provide EECS and Engineering graduate students and upper division students an accessible and interdisciplinary introduction to Internet technology and services, the economics of the Internet, the mechanisms of the digital economy and future trends. There will be 5 lecturers with individual specialization in Network Management, Network Economics, Telecommunication Services and Data Economics, Data Center Operation Management and Internet Exchange and Peering. In each week, there will be 2-hour lecture and 1-hour discussion of reading assignments and the lecture. Besides lectures, lecturers will advise students to work on a term project on an Internet Economics subject after the mid-term exam. 

課程目標
 Our societies have been transformed by internet and digital economy. With the fast evolution of information and communication technologies and the emergency of new business models in digital economy, this course is aimed to provide an accessible and interdisciplinary introduction to Internet technology and services, the economics of the Internet, the mechanisms of the digital economy and future trends. The course objective has three folds:
1. to introduce to EECS graduate and senior students the basics of the Internet system and services and network economics;
2. to expose students to techno-economic analyses and mechanism designs for emergent Internet/network technologies, services and/or applications in the era of digital economy;
3. to stimulate interdisciplinary research interests.

3. Microeconomics (not a must but a plus)
